The Performance of Engineered Water Flooding to Enhance High Viscous Oil Recovery

Low salinity/engineered water injection is an effective enhanced oil recovery method, confirmed by many laboratory investigations. The success of this approach depends on different criteria such as oil, formation brine, injected fluid, and rock properties. performance method in heavy formations has not been addressed yet. In paper, data displacement low salinity were collected from the literature experiments conducted our team. experiments, core flooding was extra sample to measure incremental due brine dilution ions composition. Our experimental results showed that wettability alteration occurred during main proposed mechanism water. Still, strong enough overcome capillary forces reservoirs. Hence, weak microscopic sweep efficiency high mobility ratio resulted a small change residual saturation. This point also observed other tests reported literature. By analyzing available data, it concluded application standalone for where viscosity higher than 150 cp expected. combining EOR with thermal approaches recommended reduce control viscous forces.
